about

Honeyslides is a harder take on the Sierra Foothill country sound that Farrow and the Peach Leaves tapped into with “Country Wednesdays.” With driving, locomotive rhythm, soaring guitars, and back-porch style harmonies. Honeyslides runs the country spectrum, from smoky honky tonks and strung-out drug runs to the particular California country grief only found in Nevada County. Honeyslides will be essential listening for fans of country music, rock, and all that falls between.

Track Name: Goddamn
Staring at a cigarette
Dangling from your mouth
Watching that smoke roll like a cloud
Need a woman to love me
The last two let me down
But what does love mean, anyhow?

God Damn,
Take me by the hand
One more time
Tell me you love me and I’m on your mind
Adeline,
You’ll do just fine
If you say to me
I’m gonna love you tenderly

Light another cigarette
Let it burn away
You and I were something back in our day
Looking out the window
Feels like life is flying by
Driving real slow, all alone, old songs on the radio

God Damn,
Take me by the hand
One more time
Tell me you love me and I’m on your mind
Adeline,
You’ll do just fine
If you say to me
I’m gonna love you tenderly

Well some days it ain’t that easy
Other days it ain’t that bad
Well some days it ain’t that easy
Most days I say “God Damn”

God Damn,
Take me by the hand
One more time
Tell me you love me and I’m on your mind
Adeline,
You’ll do just fine
If you say to me
I’m gonna love you tenderly
Track Name: One Beer at a Time
The first come like rain
The next one it comes like a flood
And the last like a wave, crashing down upon the shore

Spend my last dollar
To pay off all of my debt
Well they take all my money, life’s a payday for everyone else

I couldn’t catch a break, like a runaway train
I couldn’t catch a cold in the winter rain
I couldn’t hold your hand, if you put it in mine
But life’s getting better, one beer at a time

Punch that time clock
Right down to my very last breath
That clock keeps on ticking, and I’m one day closer to death

Sun shining outdoors
But I just can’t get out of bed
That smoke and that drinking, it’s going straight to my head

I couldn’t catch a break, like a runaway train
I couldn’t catch a cold in the winter rain
I couldn’t hold your hand, if you put it in mine
But life’s getting better, one beer at a time
Track Name: Maybe
I ain’t never been one for games
But I been a long time for you
The bottom of a bottle, such a lonely place
Always reminds me of your face

Maybe it’s the weed
Maybe it’s the wine
Maybe it’s the beer, I got a nice shine
Maybe it’s the breeze, blowing right on time
Maybe it’s you mama, just on my mind

Well the sun goes down these evenings
Burns like a fire in the sky
I think it knows that you’re leaving
That’s just the way that it cries

Maybe it’s the weed
Maybe it’s the wine
Maybe it’s the beer, I got a nice shine
Maybe it’s the breeze, blowing right on time
Maybe it’s you mama, just on my mind
Track Name: Best Thing I Never Had
If I were an island,
And you were a ship
You just passed by, I let you slip

Since you been gone, I felt so damn bad
You were the best thing, I never had

If I were a captain,
And you were the sea
Set sail in the morning, catch a ride on the breeze

I’d weather your storm, keep myself warm
You were the best thing, I never had

If I were a station,
And you were a train
I’d wait out all night, In the pouring rain

I’d wait on the track, for you to come back
You were the best thing, I never had
Track Name: Bent Outta Shape
When I say I love you,
You know I do
Why’s another man trying to make love to you?

Don’t you want me,
In the middle of the night?
When the water’s flowing and the river’s high?

I’m bent out of shape,
All over you

Smoking a moonbeam,
Drink from a stream
Visions of loving, in my dreams

My mind caves inward,
I can hardly crawl
I don’t want a spoonful, I want it all

I’m bent out of shape,
All over you
Track Name: 26 Bucks
Time wasted, ain’t time at all
I couldn’t face you, I was feeling small
It moved fast like the bullet from a gun, it burned hot like a Texas sun
It cooled off like an evening rain, it burned out like a candle flame

Remembering me and you and your cowboy boots,
26 bucks and a pick-up truck
Driving south couldn’t shut my mouth,
You just shrugged turned the radio up
High off my ass and I lost the stash,
Under the floorboard of the Ford
Guess that’s just the way things go,
Love somebody got to tell them so

I was long gone, by the time you woke
I’m trying to remember, the last words we spoke
Said the Rooster to the Hen, “Why’d you stay out all night again?”
“Well,” the Hen said to the Rooster, “You don’t make love to me like you used to.”

Remembering me and you and your cowboy boots,
26 bucks and a pick-up truck
Driving south couldn’t shut my mouth,
You just shrugged turned the radio up
High off my ass and I lost the stash,
Under the floorboard of the Ford
Guess that’s just the way things go,
Love somebody got to tell them so
Track Name: Flowers
I got tired
Of being let down
Of feeling set down, on a shelf
So, I figured I’d skip town
It’s just bringing me down
Get the hell out,
Blow my brain on a train

Well I know, nobody gonna bring flowers for me

Where was my mind
I weren’t sure
I was in rare form, even for me
Whiskey, wine, cocaine, weed, and some pills
I was filled to the gills
Flying higher than hell

Well I know, nobody gonna bring flowers for me
Track Name: Beer for Breakfast
Don’t suffer fools
Bend the rules
A carpenter’s only good as his tools

Don’t count your money
Before it comes in
Don’t wear your heart on your sleeve, got to keep it hid

Life feels like a movie,
Everything is so confusing
I’m trying to get back home to you, if it’s the last thing that I do

Waking up early
Getting up slow
Well these days, that’s just the way things go

Couple of key bumps
In the bathroom stall
Can’t get high, If you’re afraid to fall

Life feels like a movie,
Everything is so confusing
I’m trying to get back home to you, if it’s the last thing that I do
Track Name: Little Jaxie
Easy on the eyes, not easy on the mind
But you were loving
Fuck me up inside, got to read between the lines
Is that what you’re wanting?

I remember down at Hirshman's Pond, we was getting it on in that tall grass
You were coming on way to strong, I was too far gone, wasn’t built to last

Back to the saloon, in the afternoon
Or it could have been sundown
I can just assume, you’ll brush me off like a broom
And it’s a bit of a letdown

I remember in the back of the restaurant, in the corner of the parking lot, wishing I was sober
But I was a drunkard’s prayer, you were just standing there, I knew it was over
